It is not fun but if you’re struggling with mounting debt then you might be thinking of Bankruptcy as an option. My husband and I recently had to go through it and it can be a very overwhelming thing if you do not have the right person in your corner. We were lucky enough to have hired an amazing attorney who basically held are hand through the whole process.
I have heard of people trying to file I for themselves and I would personally not recommend this for anyone when I was learning just the basics about bankruptcy it was overwhelming all the legal codes and forms you must deal with. My attorney was amazing about knowing how to deal with the creditors, all the forms to file, finding us all the exceptions so we did not lose all of our belongings. I could have never got through it without my attorney.
When it was time for the meeting of the creditors both Chris I were really nervous, because we had to meet with a trustee at the county courthouse. However it was actually a very simple 20 minute painless meeting. Since my Bankruptcy attorney had done a great job, everything was in order. No questions or red flags popped up. The trustee did not question anything and approved our bankruptcy.
