10 tips for planning a unique baby shower!

While, I have never planned a baby shower, myself. I have had them thrown for me, helped out some and attended more than I can count. I love the ones that are crafty and unique. You can see how much thought was put into making the mom feel special. My aunt who actually is the one that has thrown my baby showers, is amazing at this. She is very creative. So from watching her, helping out a little bit, and attending baby showers, here are my 10 Tips for planning a unique baby shower!

    1. Get a notebook and first brainstorm any and all ideas. Write down facts about the mom and baby, due date, sex, themes they are decorating in etc. My aunt did this with me and it was such a great idea. She more or less came up with a very defined plan of attack.

    2. When buying decorations, be creative, and don't just shop pre-made from party stores. Also make sure to check out etsy for great ideas and to purchase some really unique items for the shower.

    3. Make sure the mommy is registered on at least Three Baby registry's with at least 20-25 items on each list. This makes it so much easier for guests. Also try and keep a wide range of prices.

    4. Know in advance if dad is participating and how many of his friends are coming. Make sure to plan games and have things to make him feel included. My husband was there and this really made him feel good to be included.

    5. One of my favorite things I have seen is having a little fake tree with coupons attached on it. They say things like: 1 free meal, Babysitting, Help cleaning up, Nap for mommy, etc. Each guest can take one off of the tree put their name on the back and put it in a little box for mom. Just an extra way of letting her know she is supported.

    6. Make games silly and fun, it is a blast to see family and friends let loose and be goofy. One of my favorite games is wear everyone is wearing a little necklace with a bottle on it, and you are not allowed to say the word baby. If you say baby you loose your necklace. The one with the most necklaces wins. Fun and simple.

    7. Use the web for ideas. Search blogs, google, etsy and more and you will have more ideas than you know what to do with.

    8.  Have a memory book in place wear each guest signs and writes something special to the parents to be.

    9. Food be creative and fun. Find out a few things Mom and possibly dad likes. Also keep it simple or cost friendly by doing finger foods.

    10. Send out invitations at least 2-3 weeks in advance. You can check out Tiny Prints for some great designs. Also, if possible use a online service to help keep track of RSVP'S, or so guess can RSVP online. Most guests that come to are party's like this way of responding the best. Also i send out one time email reminders, a few days before party time.

I have thrown countless babyshowers and have thought about party planning as a career. Don't hesitate to ask me for themes as I always have more brain activity than the day allows. I also have a TON of party supplies so it's easy to shop my house for decor!
